Garbage biogas power generation system

Most of the landfill waste is open-pit landfill. During the landfill process, due to the lack of oxygen inside the landfill, the organic matter in the waste will naturally produce a large amount of biogas (LFG landfill gas). It is estimated that about 100-200 m3 biogas per ton garbage is produced during the life of the landfill, main components of biogas are CH4, CO2, H2S, N2 etc. The composition of landfills biogas is similar to the natural gas. Compared to natural gas, biogas has higher calorific value and good antiknock performance. It is a good clean fuel. In the current global greenhouse effect, CH4, CO2 and other gases in landfill gas are one of the gases that cause global warming. If biogas are directly discharged into the atmosphere, it will not only pollute the environment, and easy explosion when the temperature rises in summer, but it is also a waste of energy. The biogas can be used to generate electricity and be integrated into the city's large power grid, providing clean energy to power users. Landfill biogas power generation is a harmless treatment method that can effectively use waste gas resources to generate electricity and reduce air pollution. It is a project that meets the general goal of “energy saving and emission reduction” advocated by the country. It is a typical “low-Carbon economy."

The landfill biogas power generation system is mainly composed of three parts: biogas collection system, biogas purification system, and biogas power generation system. After the landfill gas is collected, the biogas purification system removes H2S and H2O and transfers it to the biogas power generation system to generate electricity.

In the long run, building a landfill biogas power generation project can achieve high social benefits, mainly in the following aspects:

       1. Through the garbage biogas collection system, the biogas generated by the landfill is fully collected. The surface of the landfill covers the HDPE membrane to separate the landfill from the air, avoiding the direct discharge of methane to the atmosphere, and the off gas is also effectively controlled, achieving great environmental benefits;

       2. Since the surface of the landfill covers the HDPE membrane, it can block the infiltration of rainwater into the landfill, thus greatly reducing the amount of leachate produced in the landfill, directly reducing the operational risk and operating cost of the landfill leachate treatment system;

       3. The biogas generated by landfills is a flammable and explosive gas. The construction of this project can realize the complete collection and utilization of biogas, avoiding safety issues and promoting long-term safe and stable operation of landfills.

       4. Landfill biogas is an energy source. After recycling, it can generate electricity continuously, which will bring certain economic benefits to the company.
